JSK Taekwondo donates $800 to Flemington Food Pantry

JSK Taekwondo in Flemington has donated $800 to the Flemington Area Food Pantry. The dona-tion was presented (shown here) to Maryann Isham, executive Director of the food pantry, at the school's black belt test on Dec. 8 and given on behalf of 16 candidates who tested for their black belt.

As part of their ongoing community involvement, JSK Taekwondo in Flemington has donated $800 to the Flemington Area Food Pantry. The donation was presented to Maryann Isham, Executive Director of the food pantry, at the schools black belt test on Dec. 8 and given on behalf of 16 candidates who tested for their black belt. An important value at our school is respect, and the black belt candidates at JSK felt that there was no better way for us to show our respect for the community than by supporting the Flemington Area Food Pantry, said Head Master Sae H. Jang, owner of JSK Taekwondo. The food pantry's efforts to help those in need are especially impactful this year after Super Storm Sandy.

Hunger is a real problem, even in wealthy Hunterdon County. In 2010 The US Department of Agriculture estimated that 4,600 residents of the county had incomes below the poverty level.

The cost of food continues to rise, and grant dollars are more difficult than ever to obtain, said Isham. It is through support like this from our local residents and businesses that we are able to help the approximately 1,600 Hunterdon County families currently registered at the Pantry. JSKs donation will help us to achieve our goal of better meeting the needs of our clients by improving the quality of the food we offer.

Master Jang, with more than 20 years experience teaching Taekwondo, is a 5th degree master black belt and holds World Taekwondo Federation Master Certification, as well as numerous awards and commendations. Born and trained in South Korea, Master Jang was a member of the South Korean Army Demonstration Team before coming to the U.S. in 2003, where he has taught Taekwondo both privately and at universities, including Princeton and West Point. He is also a coach of the New Jersey state Taekwondo team. Master Jang is Head Master and owner of JSK Taekwondo in Flemington.

JSK Taekwondo is an officially sanctioned club of USA Taekwondo, the national governing body for Taekwondo in the United States, as well as a member of the World Taekwondo Federation. JSK offers specialized instruction for men, women and children ages 4 and up in a relaxed, safe and supportive environment.
